Be a "victim"

  • Medical professionals

  • Applicants who have wilderness first aid training

The WFAC accepts as students a few applicants who will play the role of victim in wilderness accident simulations.

These "victims" have:

  1. Priority enrollment
  2. A reduced course fee

Minimum qualifications* to be a victim

Completion of a wilderness first aid course of at least 24 hours
within the past 5 years

Medical professional with good first aid skills

*Acceptance into the WFAC as a victim is subject to the approval of the
lead instructor.

in the WFAC as a 'victim'

50% refund on course completion

Contributing to a good cause by providing a realistic and more valuable experience to the other students

Getting the experience of feeling what it is like to be an accident victim in the wilderness, gaining valuable perspective on communication and patient care aspects of wilderness first aid

- Missing the following:

  • About one hour of lecture (for stage makeup) on both Saturday and Sunday
  • Participation in the rescuer decision making and prioritization, one of the more valuable parts of the course
